Faculty Development Programme: 1st-3rd August 2019
Purpose
Being and becoming effective leaders today in higher education ministry demands us to look beyond the traditional skillset and Salesian background. Many of our new institutions face challenges and competition from the stakeholders, neighbourhood and government agencies. Expansion, excellence and equity with quality systems require a unique blend of competencies and skills.
Every Salesian leader in a higher education institution must be a:
- Strategist
- Educator
- Fundraiser
- Collaborator
- Academic and intellectual leader with financial and operational acumen.
Fundraising, alumni engagement, donor management and strategic planning rank as the most important responsibilities in the day-to-day tasks of a Secretary/Principal. Building relationships with stakeholders both on and off-campus is a dire need to sustain and develop.
The Board of Management should set clear long-range goals for the top leaders and evaluate their annual performance and progress towards the achievement of the vision and mission of the institute.
Pedagogy needs a revamp today with digital intrusions and disruptions among the students. Student-centric learning methods integrated appropriated with ICT have to be prudently introduced in our education institutions.
Practical and result-oriented processes with proper monitoring are to be in place across the institution to ensure quality in every activity.
